I began photographing birds in 1972 and bird photography has been a passionate hobby ever since. Many years were spent photographing birds at the nest before the availability of high quality long lenses facilitated a different approach. My interest has always been in producing prints both from black-and- white and colour negatives, and now from digital files as inkjet prints. Through this, I was put forward for membership of the ZPC and was accepted in 1986. I have travelled widely abroad, to Australia in particular, where I developed a love for the semi-deserts and deserts of the Australian outback and I have enjoyed photographing birds in these regions over many years. Although bird photography remains my first love, in recent years I have become interested in insect photography and the associated challenges.
