Although I didn't get raised with an interest in wildlife, my father was a keen amateur photographer. I did, however, share with my father an interest in tropical fish keeping and, subsequently trying to photograph them, was my first introduction to more specialist photography and gave me an abiding passion for macro photography.

My wife and I began travelling in 1980 visiting friends in rural Canada. Things gradually snowballed and now we have made over 60 foreign trips. These are always wildlife photography based and provide lecture material.

Although I like to walk in the countryside with a camera I am also a great fan of hide work. If you have the patience you can, indeed, you are almost forced to, study your subject, something that few people indulge in. It's so rewarding.
