The many childhood hours spent with my father finding nests, lugging kit and sitting in hides set a solid foundation for my interest in natural history, photography and recording behaviours and habitats. Photography is my passion and I have experimented with many genres, some more successfully than others, but always with a curiosity to learn. My greatest drive though, is producing captivating images of the natural world, particularly birds and the wildlife of the British Isles and Spain.
Being in full time employment, I have to make the most of my spare time and there is nothing I enjoy more than the anticipation of early start before going out with my camera. You don’t always have to go far, and it is surprising how much wildlife and photographic opportunities you can find on your doorstep.
Modern developments in camera technology have made it easier than ever to take great images of wildlife and I certainly enjoy the ability to now capture images which I could not have done 10 years ago. However, there is no substitute to knowing your subject and having a reasonable amount of field craft if you wish to capture something different or an image which really brings out the personality of the subject. I was fortunate that I was able to learn such things from my father at an early age and that gave me a perfect start to my journey in photography.
